MURDERED: Marie Walkingstick Pheasant
On December 29th, 2013, police were called to a scene in the Big Cove community on the Qualla Boundary in North Carolina. The body of 26-year-old EBCI enrolled member Marie Walkingstick Pheasant was found inside a burned vehicle upon police arrival. While “foul play” is suspected, no arrests have been made, and her case has grown cold. With only a flyer circulating the local community offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, her family is still searching for answers and hoping for justice.
