MURDERED: Livye Lewis

In January of 2022, Matthew Edgar, 25 years old, was on trial for the shooting death of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, Livye Lewis, a member of the Choctaw Apache Tribe of Ebarb, on October 30, 2021, in Hemphill, Texas. On the third day of this trial, Matthew did not show up for court, and despite his absence, Matthew Edgar was convicted of murder. He is still on the run.
Edgar is considered armed and dangerous, and law enforcement officials discourage approaching Edgar. He was last known to have short brown hair and blue eyes. He stands about six feet tall. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Sabine County Sherriff’s at 409-787-2266.
Livye’s family has created the A Livye H. Lewis Memorial Scholarship fund to honor her memory. This fund, established at Sabine State Bank, accepts donations that can be sent to the Sabine State Bank and reference account #1021006984.
